We’re Here for You!

As a program made specifically for teens, we understand the challenges you may be facing today.  Being an adolescent or young adult has never been easy - with peer pressure, body changes and emotional ups and downs.  Yet, today, it’s even more difficult due to COVID-19 and feelings of anxiety and/or isolation.  We want you to know that we are available to help.

Healthy Relationships

Many teens are unaware of what a “healthy” relationship looks like.  They fall in love for the first time and think that jealousy and possessiveness are signs of true love and devotion.  Yet these traits often lead to an unhealthy balance of power and control.  It may start off fairly innocent, but over time, the imbalance worsens, and aggressive behaviors may be revealed.

We have workshops available to help you better understand what you should find acceptable and unacceptable in a relationship.  We can also provide helpful tools to guide you in your relationships.  It starts with love and respect, and grows with good communication and a mutually beneficial partnership.  Remember, love shouldn’t hurt!

Self-Care

The biggest and best love you should have is for yourself!  It’s so important to take good care of yourself.  There is a saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup,” which means that you have to take care of yourself in order to take care of others.  When you think about it, this is so true!

Self-care can take place in many forms.  From making sure you get a good night’s sleep to eating well, little things like these can support you in properly caring for yourself.  If you are feeling overwhelmed and need to talk to someone, call a friend and go for a walk outside.  You can also write in a journal to put your feelings on paper, or do some quiet meditation to soothe your soul.

Resources

One of the biggest resources you can access for help  is your parents.  However, we know that sometimes it’s hard to talk to them about your problems.  That’s when one of our advocates can help you.  You can also talk to a teacher, a counselor or your doctor.  These people are trustworthy sources that want to help you.  Don’t be afraid to reach out to them if you need some help.
