PRESENTATIONS OFFERED:

+ TDV 101

An Introduction to Teen Dating Violence for Youth (TDV 101) is an interactive presentation that lays the framework for understanding teen dating violence and healthy relationships. This presentation: focuses advocacy, types of abuse, warning signs, supporting a friend who is a victim or perpetrator, healthy relationships, and providing participants with resources. Additional topics covered may include barriers to speaking out, using social media safely, being an advocate, safety planning, and more.

+ TDV 102

TalkStories are less formal facilitated discussions based on the specified need (requested topic), where youth are provided space to openly and safely talk with their peers about issues, experiences, or questions relating to teen dating and healthy relationships. TAP808 Facilitators prompt discussions, give, a brief overview of the topic, and ask thought-provoking questions. TalksStories are intended for youth who have completed TDV 101.

+ TALK STORIES

For youth who have already completed a TDV 101 presentation and have an understanding of the framework of the issue. TDV 202 goes more in depth to the reasons why dating violence occurs (such as gender roles and normalized violence), and focuses more extensively on creating healthy relationships and putting those healthy relationship traits into practice.

+ LUNCH RALLIES

Lunch rallies occur during lunch periods where TAP808 staff passes out materials and TAP808 merchandise, plays games, and raises awareness, to get youth talking about healthy relationships. Lunch rallies are most successful when TAP808 partners up with youth or clubs to help facilitate lunch rallies. Lunch rallies should be requested in conjunction with TAP808 presentations.

+ TDV & SAFETY (service providers & parents)

Teen Dating Violence & Safety presentations are aimed at adults who interact with youth. The focus is to enhance understanding of TDV dynamics and warning signs, to improve adult responses to TDV, to introduce safety planning , and to build collaborative relationships through referrals to the Teen Advocate. Participants are encouraged to challenge their biases towards teen relationships as to better support and serve youth.
