TAP Advocacy Services
If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, help is available. TAP’s Teen Advocate works directly with teenagers in Hawai'i who are experiencing abuse in their dating relationships.
TAP’s Teen Advocate provides:
- Safety Planning: Develop skills and options for staying safe from abuse. TAP’s Teen Advocate works with survivors to create personalized safety plans to keep them safe
- Domestic Violence Education: Learn the warning signs of abuse, common tactics that are used to gain and maintain power and control, and traits that contribute to both healthy and unhealthy relationships
- Court Accompaniment/Legal Referrals: Teens can request an Advocate to accompany them to court hearings for issues such as restraining orders and paternity cases. An Advocate can refer teen survivors to an attorney and provide legal information
- Community Resources: The Teen Advocate can explain and refer teens to various community resources, including those related to employment, housing, financial assistance, counseling, children, etc.
Court accompaniment is limited to teenagers who live on O'ahu.
